What Should You Do If Your Favorite Dress Gets Stains?

  June 30, 2020

It makes almost everybody feel overly bad and pierces the heart when coffee or anything else falls on their favorite dress and leaves a stain.

Here is what you should do when you notice a stain on your dress.

  • First check the tag of the garment to know if that garment is open for dry clean or machine wash or both.
  • If you can clean the dress yourself then take a sponge, pour it into water, squeeze it properly, then dap the stain carefully. Otherwise, you can leave your dress in a bucket full of cold water for at least 30-40 minutes.
  • If ink falls on your dress then you can apply aerosol hairspray, rubbing alcohol, or antibacterial hand wash to remove the ink. Whichever liquid you use, use that directly on the ink spot.
  • Bring a prewash stain remover and try to remove the stain taking the dress out from the bucket. You can purchase laundry detergent with enzymes as well. After cleaning your dress properly, if it is safe for the garment then clean it with chlorine bleach.
  • If the coffee falls on your dress and leaves stain then you should make a mixture of one tablespoon liquid dish cleaning detergent and two cups of cold water. Wet a sponge with the mixture and then slowly dap the stain.
  • If curry falls on your favorite wear then you should prepare a mixture of liquid hand dishwashing detergent, vinegar, and warm water. Mix one tablespoon liquid hand dishwashing detergent, two tablespoon vinegar, and 2 tablespoon warm water. Now pour a sponge in the mixture and squeeze it well. Then dap the stain with it.
  • If the dress is for dry cleaning only then don’t try your hands on stains at all and take it to a reliable dry cleaner around you.
  • If the dress is okay for both machine wash and dry cleaning then you can try abovementioned stain removal tricks or take your dress to a dry cleaner.
